Evaluation of the effectiveness of social network-based intervention on knowledge, attitude and practice of patients with Covid-19 after hospital discharge

Title: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of social network-based intervention on the knowledge, attitude and practice of patients improved from Covid-19 after discharge.
Background and Aim: Considering the importance of adherence to treatment in patients with Covid-19 and the role and benefits of education through social network, this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of social network-based intervention on knowledge, attitude and practice of patients improved by Covid-19 were performed after discharge from the hospital.
Methods: This was aquatic-experimental study with a control group. The study population was patients discharged from 501 Army Hospital in Tehran with a diagnosis of Covid-19 eligible to participate in the study. Sixty patients were assigned to two groups of 30 patients. In the control group, patients did not receive any intervention. In the intervention group, text messages, educational clips, telephone calls, educational weights and educational images were sent to patients with content about side effects, medication precautions, daily medication reminders, medication and diet, and necessary preclinical measures for 2 weeks. The researcher-made questionnaire was taken from the Covid-19 National Guidelines for Treatment Adherence at the end of the intervention, which included demographic questions, background questions related to Covid-19 disease, and questions related to patients' knowledge, attitude, and practice. Independent t-test was used to analyze the data.
Results: The results of data analysis showed that after providing educational intervention through mobile, there is a difference between the experimental and control groups in the post-intervention stage based on social network in the variables of knowledge, attitude and practice and education through mobile improved knowledge, attitude and performance scores in patients.
Conclusion: Education through social network can be used to teach patients self-care tips after discharge from the hospital to teach useful tips and materials needed by Covid-19 patients.
